Did you ever keep a New Year’s resolution? I'm not sure if I've ever made an actual resolution. I typically use the New Year to set new intentions and basically just hit the reset button to take a look at everything I'm doing with my life. I usually do (at least partially) fulfill those– things like, find a better work/life balance (answer: commit to a two-day weekend). This happened a few years ago and it was life changing. I would be lying if I said I never work on the weekends, but I truly do try to keep it light.

If you could choose an imaginary friend, who would you choose and why? It would be super great if my mom could just be invisible and walk around with me all day long. I'd probably make better decisions and get more stuff done. Love ya, mom!

If you were a city, which city would you choose to be and why? I would say Portland, because I thrive off of being surrounded by creative and passionate people. Portland is saturated with wonderful art, music and food. Outside of these cultural aspects of Portland, I flourish in the experience of nature. I often say that I feel so blessed and lucky to have access to places like Forest Park and the Japanese Gardens.

Which skill would you love to learn? I'm trying to learn how to play the ukulele. I'm not musically inclined and I don't currently own a ukulele so the odds are not in my favor, but I'm trying!!

Did you ever keep a New Year’s resolution? I stuck to one to be nicer in the mornings for a very long time as a child, but apparently as an adult I have less willpower because I am a big ol' grumpy human in the mornings. Maybe that'll be my resolution this year......... Mayyyyybe.

If you could be in the movie of your choice, what movie would you choose and what character would you play? I would be in Ever After. It’s the movie of my dreams that’s always on repeat, where 17th Century costume drama meets the glamour of 2000s butterfly clips and body glitter. I would love to play Daniela, Drew Barrymore’s grrrl power Cinderella, because she commands her world with poise, wit, kindness, a sharp intelligence... and she’s a beekeeper.

Share a description of your favorite material object that you already own? I'm very fond of the engagement ring that my husband had made for me. He combined my grandmother's band with his grandmother's stone. Every single day, it reminds me of the best friendship that I'm so lucky to have and the beautiful families that we come from.

Share a description of your favorite material object that you already own? My favorite thing I own is my Grandma's jewelry box. It's what we would now consider vintage, but was bought brand new sometime in the fifties, with a mirror tray top for displaying perfume bottles and cosmetics, and two long, shallow drawers. Over her lifetime she filled it with colorful costume jewelry, small notebooks filled with shopping lists, odds and ends she picked up while beach combing, and best of all, a pair of horn-rimmed prescription glasses circa 1960. When she passed, the rest of my family cleaned it out of all the "valuable" items, and I was allowed to keep the box and all the stuff nobody else thought was worthwhile. It is my greatest treasure.

If you could be in the movie of your choice, what movie would you choose and what character would you play? Wow, that's a great question. Probably Good Will Hunting. Not just because I got my Doctorate in Mathematics, but because whenever my dad (Will) leaves I'm always trying to figure out where he went. Also, Robin Williams and Matt Damon, what could be a better duo?
