Pick a Style
Give us a sense of how you'd like an existing design modified, and we'll let you know your options, keeping an eye on your style preferences and budget. If you like what you hear, we'll begin building a formal quote.
Options & Pricing
We'll collect a $500 design deposit* to begin the modification process: searching for your perfect stone, adding or removing settings, incorporating engravings, changing band thicknesses, metal alloys & more. We listen to your feedback and do a round of revisions if needed.
Create
Once you've signed off on the final design, we'll source materials from our ethical vendors & build your piece from the ground up in our Portland, OR production studio.

This customized version features a larger 0.75 ct round heirloom diamond the client provided. The baguette and square princess cut diamonds on the bottom were scaled to work with this larger heirloom stone.

The stock version of our Ortus ring features eleven round brilliant cut white diamonds set in 14k white or yellow gold and is made to hug the round stone of a different ring.

This customized version was designed to fit around a rosecut diamond in a different ring, so we modified the shape and swapped out the white diamonds for salt and pepper diamonds.

My partner and I had our engagement ring set custom designed by Betsy and IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RING SET I HAVE EVER SEEN. They made 2 custom rings for my wife and myself–I commissioned them–for our 5 year anniversary. It was a wonderful and fun experience! They took my ideas and first created some alternate drafts in drawings. I selected the ones I liked and they proceeded to render 2D computer images of the rings with stones and detail. From these, I selected again and they provided actual resin models fit to size so my wife and I could ensure the fit and look. Finally, the true rings were made and they are beautiful.

More Details
Prices for customized fine jewelry can vary widely depending on materials, design, and complexity. While some changes to our Ready-to-wear line, like swapping out a larger stone for a smaller one, can result in a lower final price, almost all customized Ready-to-wear pieces will cost the same or more than the initial piece due to the additional time for material sourcing and CAD modifications involved in customizing an existing design.
Your design deposit is applied to the final price. We can guide the process of selecting materials and design elements and fit within your budget. This is something we do on almost every project, and we strive to make this process transparent and game-free. We only begin production after you've approved a final quote based on the exact piece we will be making for you.
We can often incorporate stones & metal from jewelry you already own but no longer wear; we only use recycled gold, and we only work with vendors who guarantee their stones & diamonds are conflict free.
We can source any material or stone needed for your project. We work with only reputable and ethical suppliers. All of our fine jewelry metals are recycled and our gold alloys are SCS certified recycled. Our white diamonds are all lab-grown. Upon your request, we can source recycled white earth diamonds. We are often able to reuse your materials as long as they pass our quality check. If we aren't able to work with your materials, we will explain why and show you any quality concerns under a microscope.
We stand behind our jewelry and expect that with proper care, your Betsy & Iya Fine Jewelry will last for years to come. We offer a non-transferable one-year warranty on workmanship defects in our fine jewelry. We cannot warrant work performed by other jewelers (including resizing), and any such work will void our warranty. Jewelry is not indestructible, and will stay beautiful longer by adhering to our General Care tips.
During our initial meeting and intake phase, we'll talk with you to understand your project budget, which will inform the rest of the customization process. We'll provide a complimentary ballpark quote based on these conversations. When you're ready to move forward, your $500 per piece deposit allows us to begin sourcing materials, modifying CAD and 2D files, and preparing a detailed fixed price quote.
Once you approve the quote and 2D rendering, we will apply your deposit to the final price and invoice you for the balance. If you choose to make a partial payment at this stage, a final payment of the remaining balance will be due upon project completion.
All payments and deposits are non-refundable. Throughout the whole process, we will keep your initial budget top of mind, only proposing modifications that fit within it, and staying transparent and communicative with you about how design choices may impact the total project budget.
Depending on our current workload and your decisiveness, a customized Ready-to-wear piece takes around 5-8 weeks to complete from initial intake to finished piece.
