OOTD: Bettie Page joins the Circus.

Alyssa and I met at another job. It was one of my first jobs when I moved to Portland. We immediately clicked. We connected on many different levels, the underlying thread of it all---laughter. I think I was pretty good at making her laugh. And her laugh is in my top 5 of all-time best laughs. Her laugh and faces made me laugh...which made her laugh...which...well, you get the point. So when Alyssa turned up to the shop/studio last year and casually mentioned she *might* be open for some b&i hours, I knew W and I would be crazy not to jump at the chance. A few months later we were practically begging her to come on full time. When she accepted (ahem: jumped at the chance), we knew it was a match that could no longer be compromised. Obviously, we were meant to stay together.

One other thing I love about Alyssa is her no-nonsense commitment to things. If you ask her to do something (and she believes in it), turn around for a second and she's probably already halfway finished with it. So when I asked her to get in the clothes for this OOTD post, 10 seconds had not passed before she was inside the clothes and we were both nearly definitely rolling on the floor with our crack-up laughs. I think the next thing she said was, "do you want me to do the Bettie Page?" And if there's anything I've learned in my life it's how to say a confident "YES" to things even when I'm unsure what that might bring. The above picture is what followed and I think it speaks for itself.

WHAT SHE'S WEARING

Accent top: Galore Department Store (local Portland)

Jeans: Levi's

Boots: Nine West

Headband: Anthropologie

Earrings: betsy & iya, Addition Mission

Cuff Bracelet: betsy & iya, Fremont Bridge

Her style is a mix of circus, classic, crazy, clean, and cool. Oh, and a little bit of Bettie Page. It might seem like a weird combo, but Alyssa is well, admittedly...weird. She once described my style as, "eclectic bohemian sexy nanna," and I was cool with it. That's just how it is with us. Beyond admiring her confident and adventurous fashion choices, this woman is a joy to work around. Her positivity and enthusiasm are infectious. I consider us beyond lucky to have her on our team. Happy Monday, friends! xo~betsy ***Song of the Moment: Marilyn, by Bat for Lashes***
