On the Road Again!
Posted by WillRemember when we drove our aged Subaru across the country at the end of last summer? Well, folks: we’re gearing up for round TWO. The Subes has been patiently waiting in Mom and Dad’s Virginia driveway for 5 months and we hear she’s been racing around the neighborhood recently, eager in anticipation for the ride home to Portland.
This time around, we’ll have a traveling partner:

Gingham, Co-Pilot Extraordinaire
We’ll be taking a southern route, hitting Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Charleston, Atlanta, Nashville, Austin, Albuquerque ($10 bucks for who ever can type that in under 3 seconds), Phoenix, San Diego, and Los Angeles, and the up the coast to Portland. Crazy, right?!
Any tips on great shops in these cities that a Portland jewelry designer would crush on? Any cities we’re not hitting that we should? Where should we eat (besides out of our cooler)?

Anywhere in New Mexico; the Native American influence down there is more then inspiring. I would imagine more so for a jewelry designer as yourself. But just south of Albuquerque are the white sands. Rolling hills of stark white sand that seem to go on ’til infinity. Breathe taking.
What to eat while in Charleston: she-crab soup…mmmm…so good!
Gingham is sooooo cute!
You know, the only thing missing from our lovely meeting was your doggie! Adorable!
Your trip sounds amazing. You will love the Southwest! The only place I can think of that you might want to include is Flagstaff, AZ – it’s a funky college town in the mountains. Maybe it’s out of the way, though? I also love San Luis Obispo, a college town in California north of Santa Barbara. I’d bet there’s a shop there that would be perfect for B & I! Happy and safe travels!
Ronit, I can’t believe we didn’t introduce you to her! She was probably snoozing in the back. Next time, for sure!
Everyone, great recommendations! More places in NM sounds great. Also, Flagstaff–I remember that being a great place. I’m definitely excited about the idea of more inspiration. Thank you!
